Meadowsweet

Recognised with an abundance of therapeutic properties such as anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory, astringent, antacid, anti-arthritic, anti-rheumatic and analgesic, Meadowsweet’s healing toolbox is vast. Commonly used for treating internal inflammation in both the gut and joints for conditions such as gastric ulcers, scouring, osteoarthritis and gastritis.

Often referred to as the ‘herbal aspirin’ but without the side effects of the synthetic aspirin.

Meadowsweet may return a positive swab due to the high content of salicylates.

Dosage: 30g per day/500kg horse.

How to Administer: Dried herbs may be added directly to your horse’s dampened feed in their dry state. Alternatively, they may be made into an infusion (herbal tea) prior to use and the soaked herbs and liquid poured over their feed. By making an infusion prior to feeding, this is known to release more nutrients from the herbs and may increase the health benefits.
